Originally known as "Welsh cake", it is one of the traditional recipes of Wales, with a long history. It is actually a pastry prepared with basic ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk and oil, and flavored with various spices and currants. It also has a warm story: Once upon a time, the wives of the workers working in the mine used to make a lot of it for their wives so that it would be satisfying, easy to carry in their pockets, and to keep them feeling the warmth of home in the harsh conditions in the mine.

You can consume these cakes by simply sprinkling them with granulated sugar, or with jam or fruit sauce, and store them without spoiling for a few days.
